Youth Gathering Gets Tuned In

Feb 10th 2017

Youth from Almanarah Presbyterian Church in London attended the Youth Gathering Event that was hosted by Oakridge Presbyterian Church in London Ontario. At the event the award winning short film Tuned In was presented. The film has won a number of awards at festivals around the world. The film’s story follows Emma, a teenager who disobeys dinner table rules of her parents and gets grounded until she learns to get priorities straight and learns the value of relationships.  A major part of the story deals with the frustration of Emma’s parents and friend Stacey, none of whom can seem to get ‘tuned in’ to Emma’s frequency and break her connection with her cell phone.  The viewing was followed by and short message and discussion on communication, relationships and Cell Phones. The question was posed to the those that attended “are you listening?”  The event was well attended by youth from both churches that are located in London. The group of youth and teens concluded that like finding the right frequency on a radio is crucial to hearing the program that is on the air. The same is true for relationships with the people around us.
